In Marine Power, ​​​​​Project Services is an organisation with over 400 professionals in many locations globally and has full responsibility for retrofit projects from sales to delivery.

Project Services will play a key role in the overall Marine Power strategy, on the retrofit side supporting customers with obsolescence management, lifetime extensions, efficiency improvements as well as decarbonisations programs enabled by fuel flexibility and hybridisation.

Project Delivery is part of the Marine business Project Service organization and is responsible for management of retrofit and conversion projects. These are projects concerning the engineering, assembly, supply, installation and commissioning of new diesel engines, ship propulsion systems and/or ship automation systems, as well as projects for modification, maintenance or repair of these systems.

For this Project Delivery department in Finland we are now looking for a Senior / Lead Project Document Controller to join our Project Support team to support project teams with documentation controlling / quality related activities.  

 

Responsibilities:

As document controller you will be responsible of following activities:

  • Responsible for proper follow-up of the (customer specific) quality procedures.
  • To receive and submit documents, maintain number and version and further distribute according the project communication plan.
  • Take action to enable on time submittal of documents.
  • Main project archiving system is M files but several other systems (FTP, Sharepoint) can be used to distribute content. Keep all up to date and develop a logic system to deal with all tools.
  • Coordination of code resolution system to ensure updates are processed in accordance with the design changes, together with data engineers.
  • Arrange documentation (e.g. manuals) related to the systems Wartsila delivers together with the documentation department.
  • Make sure all documents (manuals, Design specification, class approvals and drawings) are proper stored during and after project.
  • Acting as support for project teams (project managers + engineers) during the execution of the project.
  • Monitor (technical) developments within the own discipline.
  • Monitor process performance and identify shortcomings and bottlenecks in current processes.
  • Define proposals and support for improvement to optimize processes and tools to develop feasible, reliable solutions.
  • Serve as a source of information for new or less experienced colleagues and share knowledge.

 

Requirements:

  • BSc or BBA education or similar
  • Result based mindset
  • 2 years or more of experience in the maritime/ offshore industry.
  • Knowledge of SAP, MS Office tools
  • Systematic way of working
  • Problem solving attitude
  • Be able to recognize documentation standards.
  • Project Management knowledge
  • Fluent English languages
